Rye Pier Upgrade

Rye Pier is a historic structure originally constructed in 1860 with a timber approach that is approximately 315m long. The pier was upgraded as part of the Victorian Government’s building works economic stimulus initiative. Our design considered how to substantially rebuild and widen a section of pier so that it could continue to serve the community. We prepared the detailed design, which required a complete rebuild of a 270m section of the pier walkway, widening the deck from 3m to 4.2m and increasing the elevation of the pier to cater to future sea level rise.
